My Parents

This journey starts in 2001. I met this amazing girl called Angelena. She is one of those girls that you bring home to meet your parents. However my parents didn’t agree with me. I must only marry a nice Indian girl. I wasn’t interested in a nice Indian girl. I wanted this beautiful girl called Angelena. My parents and I argued back and forth about me wanting to marry her. I had finally had enough and moved out to this £400 bedsit in seven kings. I really didn’t care, I had my freedom.

Fast forward to 2007, 2 years before Ange and I got Married. I spoke to my parents numerous times about coming to our civil ceremony in London or our wedding in Dubai. They said no to both. She had her family there, who would soon be my family.

We had 2 beautiful days saying yes in front of our friends and family. It was one of those days that you can only dream about. Beautiful white sand, only to be topped by the weather.

January 2011 Angelena gave birthday to our beautiful baby boy called Jayden. Again I tried with my parents, but again nothing but anger towards me, their grandson and daughter-in-law.

May 2013 our second son was born. Such a happy time I’m our lives. At this point in time I had been struggling with anxiety.  It all stemmed from the fact that I did not want to tell my parents about Joshua.

October 2018 we finally had a breakthrough with my parents. After my grandad passed away at the age of  97 my parents agreed  to meet with the 4 of us. It went really well, so well in fact that our next visit we stayed over the next time. The rest is history

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
